Rules for Maine Day Speedball Tournament

All rules may be subject to change

·           Weapon System

All must use the following

            -supplied Tippmann 98 custom

            -Gravity hopper

            -supplied 12oz tank

            -players may bring their own masks and pod packs

No Alterations to Marker will be made unless by an official.

·           Clothing

            All teams must have some form of uniform (same color shirts)

            May not be tie dye or any design that may resemble as a hit from a paintball

            Also may not be identical to that of a refs jersey (black/white stripes)

            No padding or thick clothes, (so balls will not bounce off of players.)

            All personal equipment will be cleared by officials.

            No metal cleats will be worn (plastic cleats are okay)

            Knee pads and elbow pads may be worn

·           Game play

            5 referees on the field per match.

Masks will be on at all times when in field, except for pre tournament field walk.

Captains are only ones allowed to speak with refs.

Any hit on person including marker (gun) or any equipment of the player the size of a quarter counts.

No tagging players

No wiping of hits,

No talking after hit other than “dead man or I’m hit”

No early starts

No going outside of nets

NO BLIND-FIRING

Respect the refs

No physical contact to opponents.

Markers remain on safe till players enter playing field, and return to safe upon leaving the safety net.

·                Start Rules

All players in their start box, muzzles of markers touching the net

·           Points/Winning

            Objective- retrieve flag at center of field and bring to opposite end, eliminating players of opposing team within the 5 minute period.

Flag pull (get flag first) - 30 points

Hang flag- 20 points

Eliminate player- 10 points

Lose player- minus 5

If a tie is reached, “dos amigos” game will commence, 2 players from each team, 2 minute game

            Points only determine who wins that round in which points are earned, not cumulative.

ANY TEAM CAUGHT BREAKING THE RULES WILL LOSE 5 POINTS FOR EACH INFRACTION.
