The Byron BridgeThe Byron bridge consists of longitudinal trusses transversely post-tensioned. The 46-ft-long parallel-chord Metal Plate Connector (MPC) trusses were designed for fatigue loading and provided with corrosion protection using a combination of galvanic and epoxy coatings. The parallel-chord MPC trusses offer a way to reduce materials and extend the spans for stress-laminated decks. The truss design limits the Live Load deflection for the bridge to less than L/1600. A five-year monitoring report is available from the AEWC Center.
