The University of Maine has opportunities to pursue graduate study in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and wood science and technology at its interdisciplinary AEWC Advanced Structures & Composites Center.

Pursuing graduate studies at AEWC provides the unique opportunity to study with AEWC's world-leading faculty in their areas of expertise including wood science, structural mechanics, chemistry/adhesion science and/or composite materials.

Students gain hands-on research experience in AEWC's 48,000 sq ft state-of-the-art ISO 17025 laboratory facilities.

In addition to M.S. and Ph.D. programs, AEWC offers a 16 credit Graduate Certificate in Advanced Engineered Wood Composites.

AEWC graduate students also receive training in industrial safety, supervision, equipment operation, and ISO 17025 quality management processes and procedures.

AEWC offers graduate students a competitive stipend and benefits; tuition waiver; office space, computer and administrative infrastructure; the support of laboratory technicians and undergraduate research assistants; subsidized attendance at international conferences and meetings; listing as named inventor and/or author on patents or publications resulting from the student's research.
