The Howe Truss Bridge The Howe Truss Bridge is a 70-ft-long covered bridge consisting of rough-sawn CCA-treated eastern hemlock timbers. The bridge was designed by a University of Maine Senior-level wood design class. One of the students also supervised the construction of the bridge. The bridge was constructed near the site and rolled into position across the abutments.
