Marcella Sorg DR. MARCELLA H. SORG

Ph.D., The Ohio State University, 1979
My research focus is in forensic anthropology, particularly the taphonomy of human remains in terrestrial and marine contexts. I am a practicing, board certified forensic anthropologist, consultant to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Maine and other states since 1977. With a theoretical base in human variation and genetic demography, I have also conducted studies of several historic Maine populations, including Acadians of the St. John Valley, Franco-Americans of the Old Town area, and inhabitants of Vinalhaven Island. In addition, I have been active in the descriptive analysis of prehistoric osteological collections from Maine and New Hampshire. See also Margaret Chase Smith Center.
