The University of Maine Chancellor’s office has release 3 draft reports for public comment. These have been compiled to address the system’s projected budget difficulties over the next five years.
- Arena 1, which offers recommendations related to administrative, student and financial services;
- Arena 2, which presents recommendations pertaining to academic programs and services; and
- Arena 3 (i.e., the Task Force), which examines the structure and governance of UMS.
The full reports of those committees, along with a related report on distance learning and the University College Centers, may be found at www.maine.edu/UMSNCND.
The next step involves combining the 3 reports into a draft for the September Board of Trustees meeting. I encourage you to review the reports and to share your comments at ncnd@maine.edu between now and August 1. In particular, the Arena 3 report has major implacations for the University of Maine.
