Young Explorers Child Care (Verona, Me.) "Preschool and Daycare in one place"

Hi! My name is Denise Brown. I am owner, director and operator of this day care home facility. I graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a BS in Child Development/ Family Relations specialized in Early Childhood Education. I am state-certified to teach K-8 and Red Cross certified in CPR and First Aid. I am offering to you and your child the highest quality child care programs and child-centered facility.

Young Explorers is a child care facility in a country setting. It is located 1 mile from the Bucksport/ Verona bridge down a quiet road on Verona Island.

Young Explorers is licensed to serve up to 10 children under sixteen years of age, but no more than 8 preschoolers at one time. The facility is open Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM year-round. Flexible hours are available to accommodate the needs of working parents.

Young Explorers is a participant in the federally funded Child Care Food Program. AM and or PM snacks and lunch meals are provided according to enrollment needs and no cost to you

Young Explorers offers several child care programs.

A half day or full day PreK/IK program is operating during the local school year. It has been designed to meet ht needs of 2 to 6 year olds and to provide working parents with day care for their children enrolled in PM Kindergarten. Many educational experiences are offered along with lots of free play time.

A three-hour Preschool Program is incorporated into the morning PreK/K program.

An After School Program is available to preschoolers and school-age children. It offers extended care hours to families with children enrolled in the PreK/K program and creates a safe, caring and fun place; for older siblings to go when parents are busy.

A summer program offers year-round care to children enrolled in full time care and their siblings. It offers a choice of summer activities such as; swim lessons at the local pool and excursions to various places.

All of the programs offer developmentally appropriate activities in which all areas of development are addressed. In addition, all activities are planned to foster positive self-concepts and encourage children to explore freely in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Activities and experiences during Young Explorers hours include but are not limited to: public library visits, creative playground trips, cooking, group games, special visitors, pretend play, indoor & outdoor gardening, nature walks, finger plays, songs, simple science experiments, reading & writing, storytime.

Disciplines are an important part of any child care program. At Young Explorers children will learn what behaviors are acceptable through a loving and caring approach.

You are the most important person in your child’s life. You have been your child’s first teacher and you have been the one to encourage his or her growth. Perhaps you want more for your child now or you have returned to work. I would like to offer to you and your child and place you can BELONG!

"Where Learning Begins"

Bucksport Area Child Care Center serves toddlers 18 months - 3 years, Pre-school: 3-5 years and Kindergarten, Grades 1-3.

Your child’s day will be filled with exciting activities to share with new friends. our children read, put together puzzles, play board games, and work with lots of messy stuff like paint, glue and play dough.

At circle time we sing, dance and share with the group.

Pretending suits everyone. We celebrate holidays and special occasions with stories, projects, and parties!

Older children expand their horizons with computers.

Children love being outside so we go everyday to climb, swing, slide, sled, skate, build sandcastles, and just play.

Discovering nature has to include bugs. Our field trips take us to farms, the library, the pool, the beach, berry picking and more...When you pick up your child, we’ll tell you all about the day.
