Tri- County Mental Health Services is the pioneer mental health care
provider in the Tri-County area. They provide comprehensive mental health
care to area residents in need
of mental health services. Their services include:
Early Intervention: Tri-County Mental Health
Services offer specialized services to families with very young children
who are at risk for or are experiencing a developmental
delay or disability.
Children's Services: Tri-County Mental
Health Services offer specialized mental
health services for children. This program includes diagnostic evaluation,
therapy,
counseling and activity groups. Additionally, specialized services
are provided in the
areas of crisis intervention, case management, and sexual abuse.
School Age Case Management: Assessment, planning, coordinating,
and advocacy
services to school age children are also provided.
Inpatient Services: Tri-County Mental Health Services offer inpatient
services in collaboration with the area hospitals to individuals who are
in severe mental health crisis.
Day Treatment/Rehabilitation: Patients who require an intensive
treatment but don't
need hospitalization are admitted to a daytime program which includes
occupational
therapy, nursing services, group and supportive therapy.
Tri-County Substance Abuse Services: Tri-County Mental
Health provides
outpatient services to adolescents and adults. Some of the services
include individual counseling, group counseling, DEEP approved services,
aftercare and affected family
member counseling. This program serves residents of Bridgton, South
Paris, Rumford, Farmington and Lewiston.
Community Housing: Tri-County Mental Health offers clinical
consultation, subsidy, residential treatment, transitional apartments,
administer BRAP and Shelter Plus Care in Oxford and Franklin counties.
The service is offered to adults and Tri-County Mental
Health also works with the local department of corrections on this
program.

Emergency Services: Emergency services are provided 24 hours
a day to assist
individuals in crisis.
Respite Care Services: Tri-County Mental Health offers community
based, short-term residential care to area individuals in a mental health
crisis. This is a 24 hour supervised residential crisis stabilization program
for individuals with a severe and prolonged mental
illness who are experiencing psychiatric crisis.
Residential Services: Clients returning to their communities
after a long hospitalization
are placed in area group homes for effective transition.
Out Patient Services: Outpatient services are provided in the
forms of individual
counseling, group counseling, marital and family counseling, diagnostic
evaluations and
other services.
Employee Assistance Programs: Tri-County Mental Health Services
assists businesses through identification, referral and recovery of impaired
employees.
Substance Abuse Services: Tri County's Substance Abuse Counseling
Services is
licensed by the State of Maine Office of Mental Health, Mental Retardation,
and
Substance Abuse (MHMRSA) and certified by Driver Education Evaluation
Program (DEEP). This outpatient substance abuse counseling program,
is offered in all geographical locations the Tri-County Mental Health serves.
Mental Retardation Program: The Tri-County Mental Health Services
provides
work experience and life skills training to individuals with mental
retardation and/or developmental disabilities in an adult activity center
maintained by the Tri-County
Mental Health Services.
Geriatric Program:
Tri-County
Mental Health Services provides evaluation, consultation and counseling
services to elderly individuals with mental health needs.
The Geriatric program closely works with the Seniors
Plus, local nursing homes, and
other community agencies.

This service consists of a group of parents of children with special
needs. They work
with families in order to assist them in meeting the needs of their
special needs child. A
special needs child is a child with a mental health problem or a mental
retardation.
Family Information Specialist is a division of The Department of Mental
Health, Mental
Retardation and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS).
FIS provides information and referral services and resources for parents
of a child to
special needs. They work closely with professionals in the field of
child health and accept referrals from families, schools, physicians, child
care centers and other community services. However, referrals are not accepted
without prior consent from a parent or guardian.
FIS also provides information about services and programs such as Respite
Care and Recreational Services for children with special needs. Respite
Care is program which
provides planned, temporary relief of constant care giving. It allows
the family of a special needs child to have time off to do errands, shopping,
trips, work and relaxation.
Recreational Services directly involve children with special needs
in activities with
children of their own age.

An intermediate educational unit coordinating services for Maine children
(0-5) with disabilities and their families.
Child Development Services opportunities provide a family focused approach
to serve
children ages 0-5 with special needs. The goal of this program is to
coordinate
individualized services to ensure that all needs of child & family
are attained. It also
encourages active participation of the family in the child's development.
It functions under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and
is funded through
the Department of Education with Federal & State funds. It serves
children with special
needs who reside in SAD #17, 39, 43, 44, 72 & Peru in Oxford county
as well as
SAD #61 in Cumberland county.

Rumford Community Hospital provides a community Health Education class
in the arena
of infant mental health:
Sibling Class: The sibling class is offered to expectant parents
with children between
ages of 2-12. This class is designed to prepare siblings for the arrival
of a new baby.
This program is an ongoing program throughout the year.

The Greater Rumford Alliance for the Mentally ill is an organization
dedicated to improving
the quality of life for those who are affected by mental illness by
providing support,
education and promoting understanding of mental illnesses. They also
operate a crisis
hotline 24 hours a day.
Oxford County Crisis Response:
The Oxford County Crisis Response is a program run by the Greater Rumford
Alliance
for the Mentally Ill. It provides an emergency mental health hotline,
mobile outreach, emergency mental health evaluations and intervention for
those in need. The program
serves all of Oxford county and is available for all ages.
Oxford County Crisis Residential:
This program runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing respite
care to adults
between the ages of 18 through 65. Only referrals from hospitals
and other mental
health agencies are accepted into the program.
Beacon House:
Beacon House provides social club activities to adults 18 years of age
or older who
have been diagnosed with a mental illness.
Family Support Group:
This program provides support to family members of people who have been
diagnosed
with a mental illness. The group meets every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
and is open to family members of all ages.

The Richardson Hollow Associates, Inc. is a mental health service provider
based in
Auburn, Maine with offices in Augusta and Rumford. This organization
provides education training, case management services and they work with
mentally retarded patients, children, youth, adults as well as provide
support to families of mentally ill patients.
Children Services:
Richardson Hollow Associates provides services for children who are
coping with
mental illness, behavioral disorders or family trauma through family
and community
support services, community integration and reduction of symptomatology.
There is no
lower age limit for the children, however these services typically
end when the child
becomes 18 years of age. Children need a referral from a case
manager, physician,
therapist, day care provider, family member or similar source in order
to be admitted to
this program. Medicaid is accepted, and these services are offered
to residents of Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin, northern Cumberland, Kennebec
and Somerset counties.
Targeted Case Management Services for Children with Mental Retardation/Developmental
Delays:
This program is available to all children from birth to age 18 who have
been diagnosed
as having a mental retardation or developmental delay. The program
provides case management services, monitoring, linking, advocating for
children coping with mental retardation or developmental delays. It is
available to residents of Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin, Northern Cumberland,
Kennebec and Somerset counties.
Adult In-Home Support Services:
This program is designed for adults who are unable to live independently
without support. They may need support in their transition from a
group home, hospital or institution.
With this program, Richardson Hollow Associates will provide individualized
in home
support for these patients in need. Patients must be approved by DMHMRSAS
or DHS
in order to be admitted into this program.
Adult Intensive Transitional/Reintegration Program (IT/R):
This program provides in-home supports, for people coping with very
serious and
persistent mental illness, and who have been approved by DMHMRSAS or
DHS.
Services are provided 24 hours a day, every day of the week.

This organization provides services in the areas of mental health, children
services,
medical services, adult services and prevention services for clients
who have been
diagnosed with a mental illness. They also provide a psychiatric nursing
program for
their clients.
Psychiatric Nursing:
This service provides in-home psychiatric nursing services for individuals
with mental
health problems. Nurses work with individual clients with counseling,
education, crisis
support, medication administration and coordination of community resources.
This service
is provided to clients in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties
and is open to clients
of all ages.

New England Counseling Services provides substance abuse counseling,
education,
DEEP, Evaluations, groups for women, men, couples and adolescent girls
and boys.
This program is open to people of all ages as well as people who are
affected by substance abuse. Patients are required to have a self referral,
DHS referral or probation referral in order to enter into the program.

Oxford County Arc serves the northern Oxford county areas. They
provide services for
the mentally retarded, children, and adults who have been diagnosed
with a mental illness.
They also provide transportation, housing and educational training.
Adult Activity Center:
The Adult Activity Center is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. It provides
vocational and educational rehab for patients who have been diagnosed with
mental retardation and are
18 years of age or older. The activities are individualized and are
designed to provide
structural learning for the patients.
Horizons Unlimited:
This program is a residential program specifically for patients diagnosed
with mental
retardation who are over the age of 18. This program runs 24
hours a day year round
and is tailored to meet the individualized needs of its residents.
The residential house
holds 13 beds.
New Hope Residential:
This program is a residential program designed for those patients diagnosed
as being
mentally retarded. It houses 6 beds, and runs 24 hours a day.
Fourth Street Residential Home:
This residential house provides housing and programs for mentally retarded
adults in
northern Oxford county.
Nursing Home Outreach:
This program runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. It provides
a nursing
home outreach for adults diagnosed with mental retardation.

The Western Mountains Renaissance School is a collaborative effort of
Evergreen
Behavioral Services and six area school districts. Located in Wilton,
the school is designed
to serve up to ten students between the ages of ten to fourteen. These
students have severe behavioral and psychiatric problems that have interfered
with their learning in traditional schools. The school offers a regular
academic calendar and curriculum, but also includes intensive psychiatric
services. Students receive up to nine hours a week of individual, group,
and family therapy in addition to their classroom work, which helps them
return to their
regular schools as soon as possible. The area schools participating
in the Western
Mountains Renaissance School are Livermore Falls, Jay, Farmington,
Mexico/Rumford, Readfield, and Dixfield.
