MePEP Module Objectives

Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Define elder mistreatment, including abuse, neglect, and exploitation

  • Recognize risk factors associated with elder mistreatment

  • Describe the signs and symptoms associated with each type of elder mistreatment

  • Identify ways to build rapport and trust with patients

  • Describe mandated reporting procedures and the healthcare provider’s role in mandated reporting

  • Assist with safety planning and locating appropriate social service resources

  • Identify strategies and tools for incorporating elder abuse screening into your practice
