Welcome to the Political Science Department Our mission is to provide students the intellectual framework to understand the complexities of political affairs and the analytical and practical skills necessary for them to succeed in a rapidly changing world. We stress the close and complementary relationship between teaching and research, believing that students benefit from intensive training by a professionally engaged faculty. We discover and disseminate knowledge in professional and public arenas, cognizant of our obligation to serve the citizens and institutions of the state of Maine. We strive for an open and stimulating intellectual atmosphere that recognizes the necessity of free exchange of ideas and the intrinsic worth of the individual student.
