James W. Warhola (Ph.D, The Ohio State University, 1983): Professor of Political Science. Areas of specialization are comparative politics and political theory. Regularly offers courses in Russian politics; African politics; introduction to comparative politics; and medieval political thought. Published in the Carl Beck Papers in Russian and East European Studies (University of Pittsburgh); The International Journal of Politics, Culture, and Society (New School for Social Research, NY); the Journal of Church and State (Baylor University); the American Journal of Political Science; monographs including Politicized Ethnicity in the Russian Federation: Dilemmas of State Formation (Edwin Mellen Press, 1996); and other publications in books and journals. Also serves on the Editorial Council of the Journal of Church and State. Has served in the Faculty Senate of the University of Maine ( 1993-1996) and the Executive Council of that Senate ( 1995-1996).
