Project Opportunity

Local Education Agencies (LEA) Support

Project Opportunity will provide support to partnering LEAs in the form of workshops and ongoing ESL Praxis II preparation.

Each year, new districts in Maine acquire ESL students, posing challenges to districts unfamiliar with identification, assessment, methodologies, and strategies for serving limited English proficiency students. The project will assist administrators and teaching personnel in LEA to support their ESL students.

The project website will advertise ongoing activities and provide networking opportunities. Links at the bottom of this page include links to libraries, online classes, and an ESL/Bilingual Education resource lending library.

A host of online resources are also available on through our Resources and Links page including monthly Language and Culture Bulletins produced in collaboration with the State Education Agency. These publications offer current research on ESL practices and strategies.
