Workshops
Project Opportunity offers on-site workshops and training opportunities in multicultural education, heritage language classroom approaches, English as a Second Language (ESL) and second language content instruction and test preparation seminars for the Praxis II exam. Our site visits can focus on material development, instructional support, and other areas of interest and concern.
We also offer a variety of related workshops, carried out on the different University of Maine system campuses.

English Language Learners (ELLs) & Mathematics:
Ideas to Consider
This hands-on workshop will raise some questions and possible answers about how educators might improve the way our ELL students’ needs are meet in mathematics classroom. Teachers are aware of the changing demographics in Maine’s school systems, but sometimes struggle with concepts and ideas that will engage all of our students. In this workshop the presenter will share ideas he has gathered through his work with Indigenous educators and TODOS: Mathematics for ALL.

The workshop is conducted by Tod Shockey. He is a mathematics educator at the University of Maine, a past secondary school teacher, and currently Vice President of TODOS: Mathematics for ALL. Professor Shockey has been fortunate to work with many educators from around the United States and Canada toward making a difference in the mathematics education of all students.
Registration for this workshop is required.
