Andrei reports from Punta Arenas:

After unsuccessfully attempting to reach the Antarctic Peninsula via Chilean ice breaker and helicopter, we returned to Punta Arenas on 8 February. The bad weather that plagued us on the voyage seems to have calmed and we made arrangments for a Twin Otter flight.

The Chilean Air Force, (FACH) was able to get us to Detroit Plato. We only had 15 minutes on the ground, but were able to collect two small cores, 50 cm and 70 cm long. Enough for us to be confident that we can return next year for a 100 meter core.
