Having supported the 1999 to present ITASE field seasons as a member of McMurdo Science Construction, I am very proud to be an actual traverse participant this year. My interest and knowledge of United States Antarctic Program traverse capabilities will be greatly enhanced by this current endeavor. The unique challenges of the high plateau of Eastern Antarctica always adds a new dimension to over snow traveling and survival; which fortunately for us, includes many modern conveniences such as satellite telephones and Caterpillar tractors.
When not working in Antarctica, I am helping plan the upcoming Antarctic field seasons at the headquarters of Raytheon Polar Services Company in Denver, Colorado. I have lived in beautiful Colorado since my youth and relish the state's vast high country and trout fishing. Though Denver has grown to be a large city, I live peacefully with my fiancé Betsy and our two cats, Jerry and Otto.
